Eau Claire retail store offering opportunities for women discussed on Spectrum West February 15, 2018
An Eau Claire home goods and accessories shop’s efforts to encourage women to seek opportunities will be the focus of Spectrum West, which will air on The Ideas Network of Wisconsin Public Radio on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 10 a.m. on 88.3 WHWC-FM/ Menomonie-Eau Claire and 88.7 WRFW-FM/ River Falls. The program will also preview an upcoming production of the Menomonie Theater Guild and highlight western Wisconsin musicians coming to perform in Luck and Hudson.
Proprietor Becca Cooke of Red’s Mercantile in Eau Claire will join host Al Ross to discuss how aside from the retail aspect, the enterprise is also a gathering place for women who can participate in presenting workshops, poetry readings, rallies and more. They also present yearly “Red Letter Grants” to women looking to start their own business.
Correspondent Jim Oliver will welcome lead actor Seth Barrier and co-director Marianne Fieber-Dhar of the Menomonie Theater Guild production of “Company.” The show will run February 23 through March 4 at the Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts in Menomonie.
Ross will also have musical guests including Hanneke Cassel, a Boston-based fiddle player who is bringing her Hanneke Cassel band to the West Denmark Parish Hall in Luck.
Eric Christopher and Anthony Ihrig, fiddler and banjoist in the newgrass band The High 48’s, will also be guests on Spectrum West. The band will perform Saturday evening at the Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson.
Spectrum West is a weekly program exploring the music, arts, and humanities in western Wisconsin. The show includes in-depth behind-the-scenes interviews and stories about area writers, musicians, theater, visual arts, and much more. It is heard weekly on Thursdays from 10 to 11 a.m. on Ideas 88.3 WHWC-FM/ Menomonie-Eau Claire and 88.7 WRFW-FM/ River Falls, with a live stream at www.wrfw887.com and a repeat broadcast at 7 p.m. Fridays on 89.7 WUEC-FM/ Eau Claire and 90.7 WVSS-FM/ Menomonie.
