The West Side Releases Candidate Forum Schedule for 2012 Fall Legislative Elections
The West Side will host nine consecutive candidate forums featuring candidates from western Wisconsin legislative districts leading up to the 2012 fall elections. The first forum will be broadcast on Thursday, September 6, at 5 p.m. on 88.3 WHWC/Menomonie-Eau Claire. Several will also be broadcast on 88.7 WRFW/River Falls.
In the first forum, Rich Kremer will host and mediate the forum between the 28th Assembly candidates, Incumbent Erik Severson (R) and Adam T. Bever (D). The forum is held in a call-in format that encourages listeners to participate in the discussion. The schedule is as follows (incumbent listed first):

The first three forums will feature the St. Croix Valley’s 28th, 29th, and 30th assemblies. The congressional forum for the 29th assembly candidates, Incumbent John Murtha (R) and Jim Swanson (D), will be held on September 13. The September 20 forum will be broadcast from the Kinnickinnic River Theatre at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for candidates, Incumbent Dean Knudson (R) and Diane Odeen (D).
Wisconsin Public Radio continues to provide public forums following an over 20 year commitment to providing voters in western Wisconsin access to their candidates for public office. Public forums allow a community to better understand how each regional legislative candidate will represent their community, county and state. The live discussions facilitate listener participation and present a platform for candidates to share their opinions on issues important to western Wisconsin voters.
The West Side is a call-in program focused on issues specific to western Wisconsin. The show airs on Thursdays at 5 p.m. on 88.3 WHWC/ Menomonie-Eau Claire. Listeners may call in with questions and comments during the program at 1-800-228-5615.
