Summer Sounds Series to be Previewed on Spectrum West
The Summer Sounds Series, presented by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, will be previewed on Spectrum West Friday, June 22 at 5 p.m. on 88.3 WHWC/Menomonie-Eau Claire and 88.7 WRFW/River Falls. Other topics include the Friends for Keeps series, a preview of a performance by Tish Hinojosa in St. Croix Falls, and a project by social work students at UW-Eau Claire.
Dr. Christa Garvey, Associate Professor of Oboe, Chamber Music, and Music Theory at UW-Eau Claire will talk with host Al Ross about the concerts and recitals involved in the Summer Sounds Series. The Series features music for winds, voice, guitar, and piano and will take place Sunday afternoons through July 29.
Julie Bowe, Mondovi author of the Friends for Keeps series, will chat with special correspondent Jim Oliver about the latest book in the series entitled My Extra Best Friend, which was released on June 14.
Singer-Songwriter Tish Hinojosa will talk with Ross about her unique vocal and instrumental style and will preview her upcoming performance at the Festival Theatre in St. Croix Falls.
Kristina Malec and Emily Miller, two members of a group of social work students at UW-Eau Claire will talk with Ross about their effort to bring music, memories and magic to local community members with Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia.
Spectrum West is a weekly program exploring the music, arts, and humanities in Western Wisconsin. The show includes in-depth behind-the-scenes interviews and stories about area writers, musicians, theater, visual arts, and much more. It is heard weekly on Friday from 5 to 6 p.m. on Ideas 88.3 WHWC/Menomonie-Eau Claire and 88.7 WRFW/River Falls.
